SVBGH was the second hospital in the state to achieve Disease-Specific Care (DSC) Certification from The Joint Commission for its treatment of heart failure and acute myocardial infarction (AMI)\, or heart attack. SVBGH is also one of only ten Advanced Primary Stroke Centers in Virginia certified by the Joint Commission\, and is the region’s only Level III Trauma Center. Other clinical services include: Palliative Care Program; an Intensive Care Unit featuring 24-hour\, seven day a week coverage by intensivists and a Hospitalist Program. In addition\, SVBGH services include the Coastal Cancer Center; Diabetes Center; Orthopaedics; Accredited Sleep Disorders Center; and an Inpatient Rehab unit.
