Sentara Healthcare is in quest of a key advisor of communications to the CEO to serve as Vice President of Corporate Communications. This opportunity requires an expert in the Marketing field to provide development and leadership of all external and internal communications for the organization. As an extension of the voice of our CEO and executive team, the Vice President of Corporate Communications must be in tune with goals and objectives for the organization, be well-versed in media relations, understand the importance and urgency of managing brand reputation, crisis communications, and agency management. The Vice President of Corporate Communications will work hand-in-hand with the CEO, executive team, and business partners to vet appropriate opportunities and appearances, ensure they are equipped, and at times may travel along-side the CEO, while continuously ensuring the brand of Sentara and the CEO is upheld. The Vice President of Corporate Communications will lead strategic communications including strategic partnerships, M&A, change management, and thought leadership.
Reporting directly to Phyllis Anderson, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Sentara Healthcare, the new Vice President will be responsible for the oversight of company news, announcements, crisis communications, public relations and social media/community functions.
This individual will lead a team, develop and maintain overall stewardship of the corporate brand, positioning, and messaging, and will collaborate with the Marketing function as well as with other functions within the organization.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years leadership and ten years of experience in corporate communications, advertising, and public relations with a strong understanding of the business needs and competitive challenges of the healthcare industry. A Master’s degree is preferred, however extensive experience is a requirement.
