Director, Talent Acquisition/Recruitment – Acute & Post Acute Care

Location

Hybrid/Remote in Virginia within 200 miles of Sentara Park located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Relocation assistance available.

The Opportunity

As Director of Acute & Post Acute Talent Acquisition/Recruitment, you will lead a dedicated team of recruiters and coordinators focused exclusively on staffing our acute care hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, and post acute care settings. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a leader who thrives on building systems, developing teams, and solving complex healthcare workforce challenges at scale.

You will report to the Vice President of Talent Acquisition and serve as a key partner to nursing executives, regional presidents, and HR leadership across the system. You will also play a central role in a transformational moment for our TA function — including the launch of new AI-powered sourcing tools, redesigned workflows, and a strengthened employer brand.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Develop Your Team

  • Build, coach, and inspire a team of clinical recruiters and coordinators dedicated to acute and post acute talent acquisition
  • Create a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and exceptional service to candidates and hiring managers
  • Drive recruiter development through structured mentorship, training programs, and career pathing initiatives

Shape Strategy & Drive Results

  • Own and execute the acute and post acute recruitment strategy aligned with organizational workforce and patient care goals
  • Partner with nursing executives, regional presidents, and hiring managers to forecast staffing needs and build proactive talent pipelines
  • Lead the build-out of a dedicated Nurse Recruitment Pod — a specialized model designed to accelerate nursing talent acquisition across the system
  • Develop strategies to reduce time-to-fill, improve offer acceptance rates, and decrease reliance on agency and premium labor

Innovate & Optimize

  • Champion the adoption of AI recruiting tools, CRM platforms, and scheduling automation to modernize the recruitment experience
  • Redesign and continuously improve intake, sourcing, screening, and offer management workflows
  • Build multi-channel sourcing pipelines including social media, campus partnerships, clinical residency programs, employee referrals, and targeted campaigns

Measure What Matters

  • Track and report on KPIs including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, quality of hire, offer acceptance rate, and requisition load
  • Provide regular market intelligence and recruitment performance updates to senior leadership and regional partners
  • Use national benchmarks and internal data to set realistic expectations and drive data-informed hiring decisions

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • 7–10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, with at least 5 years leading clinical or healthcare recruitment teams
  • Proven ability to build and scale high-performing recruitment teams in complex, matrixed health systems
  • Strong command of ATS platforms (Workday preferred), AI sourcing tools, and recruitment analytics
  • Experience managing agency partnerships, vendor performance, and premium labor reduction strategies
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence — comfortable engaging regional presidents, CNOs, and C-suite leaders

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in HR, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent senior HR certification
  • Demonstrated success recruiting for acute care, post acute, nursing, or allied health roles in a high-volume environment
  • Experience with AI recruiting platforms such as Paradox, Findem, HireScore, or Talroo
  • Background in employer branding, EVP development, or recruitment marketing
  • Experience building specialized recruitment pods or center-of-excellence models within a health system
