Sentara RMH Medical Center is currently seeking a part-time, evening shift Registered Nurse for our 20 bed inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. We care for patients with a variety of diagnoses including depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, as well as drug and alcohol detox. Our unit accepts both voluntary and TDO patients from throughout the state of Virginia.
We have a strong team of dedicated staff that are passionate about providing great care to those in crisis. We believe in an interdisciplinary approach to care and every team member's opinion is valued and respected. Our unit is state of the art with many safety upgrades and includes 3 hallways that can be separated for acuity when necessary. We promote a safety working environment for staff and have a low rate of aggression and violence with active utilization of the DASA aggression predictor tool.
Unit Description:
20 Bed inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
Nurses have a patient load of 5-7 patients
Nurses provide care for patients who are experiencing a mental health crisis and/or withdrawal from substances
Average patient length of stay is 3-5 days
Requirements
Nursing diploma (ADN, BSN, or MSN)
RN Licensure to work in Virginia
Duties/Responsibilities
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
