Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is hiring a full-time (40 hours per week) Nursing Professional Development Specialist to join our Team.
The Nursing Professional Development Specialist is a registered nurse with advanced expertise and clinical experience, responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs for nursing staff and healthcare teams. This role involves teaching advanced clinical skills, fostering professional development, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices. The Nursing Professional Development Specialist also designs training materials, provides mentorship, and conducts in-service education sessions to enhance nursing knowledge and performance. This position requires advanced clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to enhancing nursing education and patient care.
In this role you will:
- Promote professional development application of nursing clinical expertise in specified patient populations.
- Serve as an expert clinician, consistently serving as a clinical resource to staff and being recognized as a mentor, working to develop staff from beginner to expert status.
- Critically analyze care delivered in identified service areas against evidence-based practice standards and seek ways to improve outcomes.
- Be accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education and professional development of nursing staff.
- Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in interprofessional quality initiatives, implementing evidence-based nursing practices, shared decision making, and other educational plans and activities.
- The units you will be working with are Cardiac, Oncology, MedSurg, and Short Stay/Observation
Experience
- 3 years of clinical RN (Registered Nurse) experience required
Education
- Master’s Level Degree
License/Certification
- A multistate compact of Virginia RN license in good standing is required.
- Nursing Professional Development Certification (NPD-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) required at time of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for Intermediate and Critical Care Units.
