Overview
Supports executive leadership and Vice Presidents on the Data Governance Council to drive the data governance program across the enterprise. Helps lead and coordinate major initiatives in support of Sentara's top line strategic goals and enterprise data services goals. Provides guidance across the community around development of data governance domains, establish data stewardship roles, metadata management, business glossaries, critical data elements etc. Co-ordinates with different team's including but not limited to cybersecurity, privacy, compliance to promote data security, transparency and accountability. Takes a key role in developing and administering enterprise-level data governance functions.
Domain knowledge in the following areas are preferred. While all are not required, the ideal candidate will demonstrate understanding of the following:
Data governance practices; business analysis; project management; metadata management; data catalog management; data stewardship management; data policy & standards management; business process flow management; data mapping; process improvement techniques; data exploration & visualization techniques; analytic programming; database management, including the role of master data management, data quality, ETL, storage, processing, and cloud computing; data governance experience with electronic medical record systems, billing systems, claims & member processing systems, strategic and financial systems. Business acumen around basic finance, accounting, operations, management & marketing for health systems including healthcare & healthplan.
Responsibilities
- Creating & using documents containing data mapping, data dictionaries, business glossaries, data stewardship, critical data elements, data lineages & supporting its implementation in a data governance platform.
- Creating & Implementing documentation which includes but is not limited to policies, manuals, standards & process flows to support data governance
- Spearhead proof of concepts for new features released in the data governance program and develop a strategy to roll them out to the enterprise.
- Work with the business subject matter experts (SME's) on creating data domains, data products, identifying data stewards, glossary terms, critical data elements & data governance artifacts for them.
- Work with the business to update and validate descriptions for data sources, tables and columns.
- Developing reports to monitor metadata health by extracting it from data governance platforms.
- Manage and provide operational support for collections, scan and access management in the platform.
- Lead the data stewardship practice rollout across the organization by providing necessary content & trainings.
- Support policy management and implementation in co-ordination with compliance, privacy and security teams.
- Ensure data management activities are in accordance with the data governance policies and procedures.
- Support data governance council and data governance committee discussions.
- Lead the efforts for data governance SharePoint releases.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science or Health Information Management with specialization in data management, data governance, data quality. (Required)
- Master's Degree in Computer and Information Science or Health Information Management with specialization in data management, data governance, data quality. (Preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in lieu of master's degree can be considered.
Certification/Licensure
- No specific certification or licensure requirements
Experience
- Required to have 5+ years of healthcare experience
- Required to have 5+ years of database experience
- Required to have 5 + years of experience working with data governance platforms like Purview, Collibra, Alation etc.
- Required to have 5+ years of extensive database experience using SQL Server, Databricks, Azure Synapse.
- Required to have 5+ years of a business focused role performing business analysis, project management, trainings etc.
- 3+ years of experience working with Service Management and Agile project management tools
- 2+ years of experience in data quality is a plus.
We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is: $43.95/hr – $73.26/hr. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities
