The Senior Vice President and President of AvMed, a subsidiary of Sentara Health is a visionary and results-driven leader responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and overall performance of the company's commercial health plan business, ensuring operational excellence and delivering exceptional value to customers, brokers, and members. This leader reports directly to the Executive Vice President and President of Sentara Health Plans and is a member of the President’s senior leadership team.

Bachelor's degree in a related field required.

Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field preferred.
Experience

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, with a minimum of 5 years at a senior executive level within a commercial health insurance environment (managing large and small group plans).

Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, operations optimization, and regulatory compliance within the commercial insurance market.

Thorough understanding of commercial insurance products, market dynamics, and healthcare delivery systems relevant to employer-sponsored plans.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and consensus among diverse stakeholders, including brokers, employers, and internal teams.
