Sentara Health is hiring for a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program Consultant – Remote in Hampton Roads/Peninsula!
Status: Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours)
Standard working hours: 8am to 5pm EST, M-F.
Location: This is a fully remote position with travel up to 12 x a year to attend conferences. Candidates must reside within the Hampton Roads/Peninsula area, including Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, Chesapeake, Hampton, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk.
Job summary:
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program Consultant at Sentara Health plays a vital role in coordinating and ensuring the quality and compliance of CME activities for physicians and healthcare professionals. This position is central to maintaining alignment with the standards and requirements set by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Southern States CME Collaborative (SSCC), and internal Sentara Health policies. Working within the CME Department, the CME Consultant oversees the planning and delivery of educational events, including annual conferences, Quality Improvement (QI) and Performance Improvement (PI) activities, and other ongoing activities. They ensure these programs meet accreditation requirements, occur on schedule, and within budget. A key part of the role involves managing Maintenance of Certification (MOC) activities through the ABMS Portfolio Program. The Consultant collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, offering guidance on accreditation standards, policies, and procedures. In addition to event coordination and compliance oversight, the role includes maintaining digital platforms such as CloudCME and ACCME PARS. The consultant is also responsible for maintaining detailed records in accordance with accreditation requirements. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or education along with strong organizational, communication, and technical skills. The ideal candidate is action-oriented, collaborative, and detail-focused, with a strong ability to manage complex workflows and build effective internal relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage MOC Part II and QI and PI CME accredited educational activities.
• Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Sentara Health accredited CME.
• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accreditation requirement compliance.
• Understands and uses CME database software (CloudCME, ACCME PARS, ABMS MOCAM, etc.).
